Trish Wilson
Founder
With over 30 years of Leadership Development experience, I am one of the visionaries behind True Leadership. Having honed my skills and gained extensive experience while working for the provincial government, I have established a reputation for excellence in leadership training and development.
My diverse portfolio includes successful contracts with school boards, the Ministry of Labour, major banks, and the property management industry to name a few. As a certified Coach through the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and a long-standing member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our coaching portfolio. I have had the distinct pleasure of coaching executives, teams, leaders, and new managers, helping them to unlock their potential, achieve their goals while fostering growth and transformation across all levels of leadership.
In addition to my coaching credentials, I’m an accomplished keynote speaker, having delivered impactful presentations to audiences of up to 1000 people. My ability to engage and inspire large groups is a testament to my communication skills and depth of knowledge.
Certified in Prosci change management and Insights Discovery and with a wealth of experience using the Insights Psychometric tool, I offer a comprehensive approach to leadership development. These certifications enhance my ability to drive effective change and provide valuable insights into individual and team dynamics and leadership development.

Ryan McDermott
Founder
I have been training people for most of my career. I started out thinking I wanted to follow a path working with children with special needs. It was work that taught me more than I could have imagined — especially about patience, empathy, and meeting people where they are. After the heartbreaking passing of some of the children I worked with, I had to take a step back and reassess. It was a pivotal moment. I knew I still wanted to support people in meaningful ways — I just needed to find a different direction.
I also spent time working in the restaurant and bar industry. It was there that I learned what it really means to be of service to others — to show up, stay present, and connect with people from all walks of life. That service-minded mentality stuck with me in every role I've held since. Whether I was leading a team, onboarding new hires, or mentoring peers, I naturally gravitated toward coaching, guiding, and helping others succeed.
Even in roles where Learning and Development wasn’t my official title, I was always drawn to it. I loved training people, helping them understand, and finding ways to make learning more engaging and accessible. That passion started young. In school, I was often either bored or struggling to understand the way things were taught. I remember thinking, “There has got to be a better way.” This isn’t a knock on my former teachers — although based on my report cards, some probably didn’t love how much I talked or joked in class! Ironically, that’s exactly what I do now — I speak, I teach, and I bring energy to the learning process.
I believe learning can be both fun and informative — you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other. Learning and Development has been an incredibly rewarding journey for me. Over the last 25+ years, my greatest passion has been Leadership Development. I love working with seasoned leaders and those just starting out. I believe everyone has something they can improve on — and if you think you don’t, I welcome the challenge of uncovering that lesson you didn’t even know you needed. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with most major banks in Canada and the U.S. as well as, insurance companies, retail operations, government, and real estate.
I’ve coached executives, supported experienced leaders, and helped guide those stepping into leadership for the first time. I’ve also delivered keynote speeches to intimate groups and large-scale conferences alike. I’m a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach through the Coach Training Institute (CTI) and a Professional Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation (ICF). These credentials reflect not only extensive training, but also hundreds of hours coaching real clients — and a continued commitment to growth and excellence. At True Leadership, everything we do is grounded in authenticity, curiosity, and meaningful connection. We’re here to help people grow — personally and professionally — and we believe that process can be both powerful and fun.
